Apply for the LSA Collegiate Fellowship

The University of Michigan's College of Literature, Science, and the Arts (LSA) and National Center for Institutional Diversity (NCID) are seeking applicants for the LSA Collegiate Fellowship. As part of the University of Michigan's second 5-year Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Strategic Plan, the program aims to recruit 32 outstanding scholars committed to creating a diverse intellectual community and promoting equal opportunities in higher education.

Since its establishment in 2016, the Collegiate Fellowship has garnered significant attention, with a remarkable 4,424 applications received over the past seven years.

The program seeks to identify exceptionally promising scholars whose research, teaching, and service align with DEI principles. Successful fellows will receive essential support to prepare them for potential tenure-track faculty appointments in LSA, including community-building activities, comprehensive professional development and mentorship, and assistance for teaching and research endeavors.

The LSA Collegiate Fellowship is open to early-career scholars not yet in tenure-track positions, as well as early-in-rank associate professors seeking to advance their academic careers. This inclusive approach ensures a broad range of talented scholars, bringing diverse perspectives and experiences to the university community.

Prospective candidates can submit their applications through the official application portal on the LSA Collegiate Fellowship webpage. The application deadline for the 2023-2024 academic year is Friday, September 8, 2023, at 11:59 p.m. ET. Monday, October 16, 2023, at 11:59 p.m. ET is the deadline for applicants to the following departments: Biophysics, Chemistry, Ecology and Evolutionary Biology, Economics, Molecular, Cellular and Developmental Biology*, Mathematics, and Statistics.

Applicants must demonstrate a strong commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, alongside showcasing outstanding scholarship aligned with their respective departments' core values. The selection process will be competitive, with chosen fellows expected to make significant contributions to U-M's scholarly landscape.
