Chanise leads programmatic efforts to support the recruitment, retention, and support of scholars with demonstrated commitments to diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) through initiatives such as the Collegiate Fellows, James Jackson Award, and the University Diversity Social Transformation Professorship.
She previously served as a graduate studies coordinator for the Cancer Biology doctoral program where she provides administrative and operational support to the program in addition to planning and implementing programmatic efforts. Prior to her role in Michigan Medicine, Chanise served as a senior fellowships officer for the Rackham Graduate School where she managed fellowship competitions, including NIH and Rackham Merit Fellows, in collaboration with Rackham associate deans. She has held admissions and student support-related roles at the University of Texas at Arlington and the Boys and Girls Club of Fort Worth as well. Chanise received her BA in sociology here at the University of Michigan and an MA in adult education and training from the University of Phoenix.
