Laura Sánchez-Parkinson

Managing Editor of Spark Magazine

Laura Sanchez-Parkinson is the managing editor for Spark Magazine, published by the National Center for Institutional Diversity (NCID) at the University of Michigan. In this role Laura oversees the day-to-day operations of the magazine, provides content strategy, and facilitates the review and production process. In collaboration with the senior editor and editorial board, Laura supports scholars in disseminating timely content to inform nearly 100,000 readers a year on current social issues.

Previously Laura served as the assistant director at the NCID and director of partnerships, programs, and research at the Steve Fund, a non-profit organization supporting the well-being of young people of color. Currently, Laura also serves as the senior program manager for the Michigan Program for Cultural Transformation at the University of Michigan. Across her roles, Laura aims to leverage research and scholarship to inform and transform organizational policies, practices, and culture.

Laura earned a BA in organizational studies and sociology and a MA in higher education management and organizations from the University of Michigan.
